Atelier Architects are specialist in Residential, Commercial and Community architecture.

What an Architect can bring to your project

Creatively an Architect is trained to bring vision and value to any building project. Practically when you hire an architect, you have a professional on your side who knows the construction industry.

You are working with someone who has undertaken seven years of architectural training – no other building professional is trained in design and construction to such a high level of expertise.  The term “Architect” is a protected title and UK law requires those that use it to be registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB).

Only Architects registered with the RIBA can be called “RIBA Chartered Members”.

What we can do for you

If chosen as your design consultant we will provide you with more than just drawings, we have the experience to guide your project successfully through to completion.

We can oversee the design, assist with the approvals process, and administer the build.

If the scale of project demands we can coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of consultants to ensure you get the right expert advice at all the appropriate stages.

Consulting your chosen Architect at the earliest stage will allow for a better understanding of your needs and aspirations resulting in a clear brief and a realistic budget.

This will help reduce the overall design costs and help ensure the project comes in on time and on budget whilst identifying and reducing any potential problems early on.

Developing the Design

As your Architect we will work with you to develop designs that will interpret your ideas imaginatively, maximise your investment, ensure your project is cost effective and help add real value to your property. Initially we will come up with a range of ideas to discuss, and through a process of collaboration we will develop and refine the design together.

The Approvals Process

We can help with the approvals required before your project can go ahead, including preparation of applications to the local authority for planning consent (where needed) and for Building Regulations plans approval (which covers the functional requirements of buildings to safeguard the health and safety of the people using them, energy conservation and access and convenience for people with disabilities).

Construction Phase

Guiding you through the construction phase we can help you select suitable builders for tendering, obtain appropriate prices for construction, inspect and monitor progress and standards on site, liaise with other specialists and oversee the construction through to successful completion.

  • I have worked with Atelier on a number of projects and found them to be not only creative, empathetic and attentive in their approach to design but also unafraid to offer sound advice when appropriate. I would have no hesitation in using them again in the future and would readily recommend their services to others

  • Stephen and his team at Atelier helped us through the whole build process from planning to project management. They were great to deal with and impressed us with their sound advice and great attention to detail.

  • We were impressed by Stephen even from the very first meeting with him.  He has a approachable style but combines this with appropriate challenge, as required, to really open up ideas.  This has resulted for us in a beautifully designed remodel and extension to our home, which balances the creation of a modern living space, sympathetically married to a 17th century period property.  His skill and ability to create a well thought through design, meant that we had minimal resistance from our planning authority; indeed they complemented the design and commented on it being a positive introduction to the area! We have no reservation in recommending others engage Stephen – we have really appreciated his honesty, integrity and pragmatism on our project.
